The traditional Indian marriage encompasses a number of social and religious festivities that span several days, invoking the blessings of the family, the ocmmunity, as well as the elements of nature. This scene depicts a common ceremony observed after the marriage in which the newly weds worship these auspicious signs representing nature and God. The bride prints her handprints amongst the symbols, securing her presence among the blessed. The ceremony is generally known as the koh-wurr.
