This is one of model maker Rob Napier's favorite creations. "I don't know why anyone has never bought it. Because it's too prosaic of a subject, is the answer. It has no romance. It's just a scow. Most people who collect ship models want them to have some grace." Depicted here at 1/8 of an inch to the foot scale, a scow is a utilitarian and slow moving boat used by fishermen for tending fish pounds. The vertical contraption on the bow is a piledriver used for driving poles down into the sandy bottom. Working fishermen use skiffs to come from and go to the scow.
